Lab 3 - Realistic MIDI Mockups
Live Course • 4 Weeks
Beginner to Intermediate Level
This four-week live course is designed to help composers create polished, expressive digital demos using sample libraries and MIDI programming. Whether you’re scoring for media, preparing a concert piece, or pitching a project, realistic mockups are an essential part of the modern composer’s toolkit.
Each session focuses on a key part of the mockup process, from building your template to refining your workflow. You’ll learn how to shape sound with intention, work faster, and make your music shine even before a single note is performed live.
Week 1: Setting up the perfect template with your own signature sound — routing, balancing, and articulation management
Week 2: Layering, automation, and quantization — making MIDI musical instead of mechanical
Week 3: Basic mixing — reverb, EQ, and compression: when to use them and why
Week 4: Workflow tips, developing speed, and exporting stems for collaborators or clients
🛠️ This is a lab-style class, so expect to listen, analyze, and apply the techniques we discuss each week. Each session runs 1 to 1.5 hours and includes a dedicated Q&A section, giving you space to dive deeper into your specific questions and orchestration challenges.
✅ All sessions are recorded. When you purchase your ticket, you’ll receive a link to join the first session live. Can’t attend? No problem — session recordings will be delivered to your inbox shortly after each class.
All sessions are held each Sunday between July 20 - August 10, live at 11:00 AM Central Time (CST).
That’s:
• 9:00 AM Pacific (PT)
• 12:00 PM Eastern (ET)
• 5:00 PM London (BST)
